Our Mission Statement
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT OVER WINNING
Kings County Soccer Club commits to prioritizing player development over winning soccer matches. Whilst they often go hand-in-hand, developing our young players technically, psychologically, physically and socially is at
the heart of everything we do.
CREATING MEMORIES
Children come first at Kings County Soccer Club, and sport provides an excellent opportunity for young players to make positive memories they will keep forever.
COMMUNITY
COMMITMENTS
As a youth soccer club in Brooklyn, we take pride in being a part of our wonderful community. Below show our commitments to our Brooklyn neighbors.
SOCCER FOR EVERYONE
Soccer helps bring people together. Our club should be a safe space for people of all backgrounds to feel safe, valued, represented and respected.
IMPROVING LIVES & COMMUNITIES
We believe a responsibility of a Youth Soccer Club should be to create a safe space for local young players. These young players can learn teamwork, problem solving and responsibility, whilst connecting with other young people within their community.
INSPIRING AND DEVELOPING FUTURE LEADERS FOR BROOKLYN
Part of helping our community includes helping develop young people into future leaders within the Brooklyn Community. Through consistency within our values and commitment to our mission, we believe soccer can help all sides of their development.
PUTTING PLAYERS FIRST
KCSC commits to putting our Players first. We look to maximize their gametime, interactions with coaches, and their enjoyment through their Kings County Soccer Club Experience.
CONSISTENT APPROACH
Hearing different and conflicted messages each season can make it difficult for young players KCSC’s coach training and education helps to create an environment where players can receive consistent messages and ideas throughout different seasons.
CLUB
COMMITMENTS
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
At KCSC, we aim to develop players both on and off the field. We want to help create amazing people as well as amazing soccer players! We believe soccer is an opportunity to develop character and social skills as well technical and physical qualities.
EXPLORATORY-BASED LEARNING
KCSC players should feel free to try new things, take risks, and not fear failure or criticism if things don’t work out. Coaches will ask questions that challenge players to work out solutions, not give orders that may provide short-term success. We do not criticize players when they make a mistake.
TECHNICAL
All Positions – Players learn the game by playing in a variety of positions (Not just their favorite one!). Experiences in all of the positions will help them learn the game, and play their eventual position with greater understanding.
Ball Each Mentality – Training sessions are designed to maximize players’ touches of the ball, with the majority of our training sessions starting with a ball mastery masterclass from our KCSC Coaches.
Core Skills – We believe all players should strive to improve the core skills of dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting.
Challenges – Transferring skills learned in training to a match day can be one of the hardest challenges for young players, our KCSC Coaches will help give our players confidence to take their skills to the next level.
PSYCHOLOGICAL
Confidence – We want our players to graduate our program with self-confidence and to develop positive self-esteem and build character by continuing to focus on our club values.
Leadership – Soccer is a team-sport, which gives all players the chance to become leaders around their
teammates. KCSC looks to create such situations, empowering players to show and develop their leadership.
Resilience – Not quitting when things get tough is an invaluable life lesson that can be transferred to a number of situations, we believe soccer can be a great teacher for this.
Creativity – Finding Solutions forms a key part of development. At KCSC we look to nurture creativity through challenges and guide players towards potential solutions.
SOCIAL
Teamwork – Team based sports offer players the opportunity to reach further success when working together, our KCSC coaches will look to encourage our players to problem solve both individually and as a team.
Communication – How young players interact with the world and each other is a skill that can be nurtured.
Listening Skills – The ability to listen is essential for children to learn from the world around them. Our coaches are trained to be patient, and find ways to help our young players learn this key life skill.
Awareness – Soccer is a team-sport, and players that don’t understand how to work as a team often run into barriers later on. At KCSC we strive to help players find a balance between showing what makes them individually great whilst being part of something bigger!
